Meet Bill Cummings,
President & Creative Thought Leader
Bill is a Sales & Marketing executive with extensive experience catalyzing rapid revenue growth while controlling multimillion-dollar program budgets. Sharp advertising and marketing acumen across national publications, niche markets, classified verticals (autos, real estate & employment), legal and private party segments. He also has extensive experience working with manufacturers, banks, hospitals, health care, government, political campaigns and non-profits.
A collaborative communicator, he is continually focused on building relationships and positioning high-performance teams for unprecedented success. He is often called on by large organizations, groups and corporations to speak at workshops or meetings; lead off-sites; conduct rate analysis; forecast where your next sale will come from; and leadership team coaching (advertising, management, content). Meet Neil Potter
Senior Vice President of Operations
Neil Potter is our Vice President of Operations. Neil has a robust history in the media and customer service space. “I feel fortunate that Neil is a key leader our team as we launch such new and profitable ventures across the United States” said Bill Cummings, President, and CEO of NERUS Strategies, LLC. “Along with our other leaders, we are sure to deliver far beyond our promises.”
Neil has the unique ability to see and manage our operation from several different vantage points. His experience with sales process, sales planning, managing expectations with senior staff and his even temperament make Neil the best operations leader in the business.
Prior to joining NERUS, Neil was the Salesforce.com Knowledge Champion for Gannett|USA Today Network. Neil held several other positions with Gannett|USA Today including Digital Strategist responsible for all digital fulfillment and trafficking for digital display, PPC, social media, email blast, website builds, re-targeting and other campaigns. Oversight and monitoring of all campaigns for optimization purposes. He also assisted sales representatives and their managers in building digital campaign solutions that delivered ROI to clients.
Prior to entering the media business, Neil worked as a Wilderness Guard in the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness. Trained as a Forest Protection Officer with responsibilities in enforcing forest and wilderness laws. One of the main duties was to educate forest and wilderness users of the different laws and regulations. Enforcement of these laws and regulations was writing citation tickets to the offenders. Often worked solo for this job, and sometimes in teams.
Neil holds a BS in Marketing from Oregon State University, and is married and has two sons. He and his family are based in Salem, Oregon.
Meet Nicolas Owen
Vice President of Engagement
Nicolas (Nick) Owen Is our Vice President of Engagement. In this role, Nick is responsible for delivering irresistible levels of service to our media partners, their sales representatives and the millions of guests that will visit the websites we create.

Nick’s experience crosses over from media to large ticket items. All transferrable skills for the NERUS client. For over two years, he held the position of Internet Sales Manager at B. Young RV in Milwaukie, Oregon. Prior he was the Business Development Coordinator and Sales Manager for Camping World and Good Sam. There he was responsible for generating and closing sales over the internet and phone. Nick cultivated all leads for the sales team, and followed up to provide up to date reports on the sales pipeline activity to upper management. Under Nick’s guidance, the internet department accounted for 40% of the total sold units in 2016.
As the Regional Director, Sales & Marketing for The Dolan Company, Nick was responsible for overall sales growth and gap strategy for 15 markets. Primary focus on sales planning and sales calls, digital augmentation, and account planning. Traveled extensively with primary responsibility for Baltimore, St Louis, Minneapolis and Oklahoma City.
On the corporate team, Nick was responsible for planning and creation of a digital centralization strategy for ad ops, social media and relationship strategy, eNewsletters and standardizing ad units across 33 websites.
Nick also held the role of Digital Strategist for The Statesman Journal, a Gannett|USA Today Network newspaper and website in Salem, Oregon. There he collaborated with the Advertising team to implement ad campaigns and provide ad campaign management for Statesman Journal Media. He managed campaigns in DoubleClick For Publishers, OrderHub, AdTech Helios, Yahoo! APT, AdMarvel, and Google AdWords.
Nick attended Chemeketa Community College, he lives in Tigard and works in our Salem, Oregon office.
Meet Jeff Conway
Vice President Business Development
& Television Development
Jeff Conway is our Vice President Business Development and Television Development. Jeff puts his 30+ years as a television network affiliate Executive Producer, active producer, advertising agency executive, and television News Planning Manager to work for our clients.
Jeff has extensive C-Level and current hands-on experience in overseeing multiple teams in fast paced, deadline driven television and marketing production environments including broadcast television commercials, programs, news, online, print, and industry events for B2B, B2C and B2G. He is known for his ability to create, script, pitch, produce content, and nurture client relationships.
Jeff has designed studios and workflow processes from a current editor/designer’s perspective, including training, staffing, budgeting, and scheduling. He has been responsible for developing creative strategies and managing campaigns to create quality purpose-driven content. Whether it is through in-house production, or by managing vendor relations, he delivers successful programs with precision in a positive way.
Jeff and Bill have worked together with The Madison Avenue Group, Inc. and have won several local and national awards for their work together.
Meet Cory Bergman
Cory Bergman joined the NERUS team in May 2019. He has worked in the digital space for the past 10 years at Snapfish. Cory's skills include graphics and product development. His focus at NERUS is on digital and print design for the advertisers and clients we serve across the United States through our BestOfPrograms.com platform. Cory lives in Salem, Oregon, is married and has three children.
Meet Kerry Lorentz
Creative Projects Manager
Kerry Lorentz joined the NERUS team in February of 2020. Using her extensive experience with print and digital assets, Kerry works with our markets to produce their Best of Programs.
Kerry has a formal education in Visual Communications and has been working in the field since the ‘90s. During her time working for Eagle Web Press, The Statesman Journal and Chemeketa Community College, Kerry designed magazines and newspaper layouts for both editorial and print advertising.
Based in our Oregon Corporate office, Kerry is proud to be a native Oregonian.
Meet Allison Gnefkow
Allison Gnefkow joined the NERUS team in November 2019. Allison works with our markets that produce Best of Programs. One of her primary markets is Laguna Beach, and the year-round guide to all that is best. We first worked with Allison when she was with the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Allison's passion for helping small businesses, especially Real Estate agents, understand the power of combining digital media with high-quality print is what sets her apart.
Allison holds a degree in Business Administration and a BA Spanish MCLL, both from Witchita State University. She loves the KC Chiefs, spending time with my friends/family and cooking! Allison works remotely from Kansas City.
Meet Nichole Phillips
Nichole Phillips joined the NERUS team in January of 2020. Nichole works with our markets that produce Best of Programs and acts as our sales manager for Best of the Willamette Valley Project. We first worked with Nichole when she was with the Statesman Journal. Nichole's passion for helping small businesses understand the power of digital media is contagious. She works with our local and national clients.
Nichole holds a degree in Business Accounting from the University of Phoenix. She is in the process of completing her MBA.
Nichole works across the United States and is based in Salem, is married, has a step-daughter and the proud human parent of two rescue fur-babies (dogs).
Meet Saint. Official Best of the Willamette Valley spokes-dog. She enjoys long walks in downtown Salem, chasing squirrels and promoting everything that is BEST about the Willamette Valley.
Saint was rescued from a no-kill shelter in California. Born in Fresno, Saint had puppies prior to her relocation to her permanent home with Nicolas Owen and Lauren Williamson in the Portland area.
Saint is available for limited engagements and spends most of her days at the NERUS corporate office in Downtown Salem, Oregon.
